Westcom Business Communications Ltd. Was engaged to design and implement a comprehensive guest and corporate Wi-Fi solution for the Bawdsey Manor site.
The primary objective was to provide reliable, high-performance connectivity throughout the site. Using Ekahuas heat mapping to determine the sites coverage abilities Westcom were able to design a fail-safe network for the client.
Project Details: Our deployment included the installation of 79 state-of-the-art wireless access points (APs) and 2 new network cabinets, as well as extensive cabling and infrastructure work. Key components of the project included:
Cabling Installation
Cabling was designed to meet or exceed CAT5e specifications to ensure reliable connectivity. Cable routes were strategically planned, with adjustments made as necessary during installation.
Network Cabinets
We installed 10 new network cabinets across various locations to support the network infrastructure. Each cabinet was selected and positioned to optimize network performance and accessibility.
Fibre Links and Connectivity
The project involved the use of existing centenaries and ducts for new fibre installations, verified for fitness and readiness to support rodding, roping, and cable pulling. Where required, new short-length centenaries were employed, pre-approved for use in low-impact areas away from main thoroughfares.
Civil Works and Principal Contractor Role:
As the principal contractor, Westcom managed all necessary civil works required for the project. This included connecting parts of the site that were otherwise inaccessible for running infrastructure without the need for new ducting. Our control over these works ensured seamless integration and minimised disruption.
Wireless Connectivity Design
The solution included a mix of point-to-point (PTP) and point-to-multipoint (PTMP) wireless links, leveraging robust 60GHz PTP technology for high-speed, across-park connections. Access points were placed primarily in communal spaces such as lounges to minimize disruption in guest bedrooms. Where necessary, AP lights were disabled to prevent any inconvenience.
End Outcome
The completed project successfully delivered a seamless, reliable Wi-Fi solution that supports both guest and corporate usage.
